Powering Devices with the Charge Port
To power devices from your vehicle's charge port, you can use the Gen 3 Mobile Connector and the Tesla Outlet Adapter. This adapter is only available for Model Y Performance. Tesla Outlet Adapter is only compatible with Gen 3 Mobile Connector.

The 5-20 Tesla Outlet Adapter provides 20A maximum current and 2.4 kW maximum draw at 120V.
Plugging in
- Ensure that the plug of the
device you are planning to power matches the Tesla Outlet Adapter.CAUTIONEnsure that your device does not exceed the maximum draw of the Tesla Outlet Adapter..
- Attach the Tesla Outlet Adapter to the Mobile
Connector by lining up the adapter with the
controller of the Mobile Connector and pushing it into the socket until
it snaps into place.
- Open the charge port door by lightly pressing on it, or using the vehicle touchscreen or mobile app while the vehicle is unlocked and in Park.
- Plug the Mobile Connector
handle into your vehicle's charge port.NoteAfter you connect the Mobile Connector, the vehicle checks for and runs any necessary software updates for the adapter. During the update, the touchscreen displays a message that an update is taking place and that powersharing may commence after the update is complete. Mobile notifications are also sent out when the update starts and when it finishes. If the update fails, you receive a mobile notification to disconnect and reconnect the adapter to retry.
- Plug your device into the Tesla Outlet Adapter.
If there is an issue while the Tesla Outlet Adapter is providing power, watch the status lights and refer to the Troubleshooting section of the Mobile Connector product manual. In addition, check for alerts on the vehicle touchscreen and in the Tesla mobile app.
Unplugging
- Unplug your device from the Tesla Outlet Adapter.
- With the vehicle unlocked, press and hold the button on the Mobile Connector handle, wait for the charge port indicator light to turn white, and then pull the Mobile Connector out of the charge port.
- The charge port door automatically closes after you remove the charge cable from a Tesla vehicle.
